PITTSBURGH, PA. - The second annual VIA Music & New Media Festival, Wednesday, October 5 – Sunday, October 9, 2011 announces its live web stream presented by Arsenal Studios. 35 + hours of live performances and video art will be broadcast over the 5 day event. The live web stream can be viewed at www.via-pgh.com/live.

 

VIA features more than 50 of today's cutting edge musicians and visual artists in three way collaboration with web based artists to push beyond a traditional concert web stream and create an online multimedia experience.

 

Unique performances to be broadcast include Trans Am performing their album Futureworld in its entirety, Toy Selectah with visuals by Di-ay, Stage design by Thunder Horse Video, An A/V set by Battles, Zombi with visuals by Vade and many other collaborative performances including Four Tet, Underground Resistance, Austra, and many more alongside local favorites Centipede E'est, Smooth Tutors, Pure Hype, Raw Blow, PTA and ELQ.

 

Performances will take place at multiple venues across the city of Pittsburgh, including the Rex Theater, Brillobox, Broad Street in East Liberty. Each live web stream will be custom designed to take full advantage of the unique venues using a combination of traditional video cameras, webcams, security cameras, and cell phone broadcasts from attendees to create a rich multi-format experience. The webcast will also feature coverage of art installations, workshops, interviews with artists, and interactive sculpture.

 

Live broadcasts will take place from 10 pm to 2 am on October 5th, 9 pm to 2 am on October 6th, 8 pm to 5 am October 7th, and 4 pm to 5 am on October 8th.
